Classes for Spring 2023

A few important reminders:

Pick up time is 4:05 for afterschool programs

Please email a note to: jbreen@walpole.k12.ma.us giving permission for your child to stay on the dates specified for each program you child will attend.  This information will be shared with their classroom teacher.  Also, please send children with an extra snack to have quickly before their program begins. 

Checks should be written to Town of Walpole.

Monday Classes

Walpole Robotics Academy
Instructor:  Mr. Carpenter
Grade Levels - 2-5
Time:  3:05 - 4:05 
Limit:  12 Students - (Minimum of 8 students for class to run)
Cost: $35
Dates: Mondays - April 24, May 1, 8, 15, 22 and June 5     


Class Description:
Walpole Robotics Academy is on the lookout at ELM Street for 12 members in grades 2nd-5th join us at the after-school LEGO Robotics Program!  The program is geared to students ages 7-12 years and utilizes LEGO Robotics kits.  Teams of 2-3 students will receive a mini-challenge weekly and spend time exploring, investigating, designing, building, and coding. This program will also build on teamwork and problem solving as they work with other students to master these challenges. The students may also work alongside Walpole High School Robotics 1153 team members to show them the many different aspects of the robotics field and how it is applied today and in future applications, and maybe how fun it can be as well!!

Don’t worry, if your child has taken the class already there will be new challenges for them to keep them engaged and inspired!

Tuesday Classes

Fun With Origami

Instructor:  Mrs. Lam
Grade Levels - 2-5
Time:  3:05 - 4:05 
Limit:  16 Students - (Minimum of 8 students for class to run)

Dates: Tuesdays - April 25, May 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

Class Description:
Students will learn about the history and culture of origami while reinforcing concepts of math, engineering, art, fine motor skills, and problem-solving - all while having fun! Students will have hands-on experience folding various decorative shapes and figures through the Japanese art of origami.

Wednesday Classes

Run Club (4 week program)
Instructor: Maeghan Ludwig, Parent Volunteers and Mr. I
Location: Gym (outdoors)
Grade Levels: K - 5
Time:  3:05 - 4:05
Limit:  50 Students 
Cost: $ 25
Dates: May 10, 17, 24 and 31

Class Description:
The Elm Street School Running Club is back! This after school activity meets once a week for four weeks and is open to students K-5. All running club members will receive a running club t-shirt and participate in a variety of fun relay races, along with a one mile jog around the school. The participants will finish with cool down stretches. This PAC supported activity will be led by parent volunteers along with help and guidance from Mr. I! 

Thursday Classes

Cribbage and Chess Club
Instructor: Mrs. Good and Mrs. Oberacker
Location: Mrs. Oberacker's Classroom
Grade Levels: 4 and 5
Time:  3:05 - 4:05
Limit:  16 Students (Minimum of 8 students for class to run)
Cost: $35.00
Dates: April 27, May 4, 11, 18, 25 and June 1

Class Description:
Master Cribbage and Chess and impress your friends.  You will discover everything you need to know to have fun playing these captivating, competitive and strategic games



Basketball Skills

Limit:  20 Students (Minimum of 8 students for class to run)

Class Description:

This after school enrichment activity will involve students working on basketball skills like dribbling and shooting. We will also work on team building skills through various drills
